Had my annual checkup with Dr. Zac yesterday. He did robotic prostate surgery on me in 2011, etc. Went very well, he followed up back then with regular phone calls, etc. Very professional, patient, and caring doctor and person. Great --bedside manner!-- As a retired university Dean and Professor of Education, I always ask a lot of questions! Had a good and candid discussion yesterday about my PSA numbers now rising slightly as I get older, plan going forward, etc. Like his personal engaging personality and style... His NP also very friendly and professional... Always enjoy my visits with them and the entire Aurora Grafton Medical Center experience, I call it my 2nd home!

Dr Zacharias is kind, honest and direct about all your circumstances and options, explains all questions thoroughly, an excellent doctor and surgeon. He is exceptionally gifted and saved my life from much dire consequences of prostate cancer. I personally would not go to another urologist.

My problem began in October of 2018, at the age of 66. I had prostate problems for at least 25 years, but had relieved the symptoms with medication. I had a total blockage and had to have a catheter put in on October 1. After 3 weeks, the catheter was taken out and my symptoms were no better, so I decided I had to go the surgical route. My regular urologist referred me to Doctor Alex Zacharias. Dr. Zacharias specializes in robotic surgery. My first visit was October 29, at which time he told me that he could do the surgery, which would be (RASP) Robot-assisted simple prostatectomy on November 6, 2018. Then he discovered that my last biopsy had been in 2010 and he became concerned that there would be a chance that there could be cancer. He was so caring, that he didnt want the possibility of having to go through 2 procedures, he ordered an MRI for November 1, hoping that the results would be good and he could still do the surgery on November 6. The results came back with a questionable area, so the surgery was cancelled and a biopsy was ordered for November 29, 2018. It was a special biopsy called a Fusion biopsy where the MRI image is used to guide the doctor to the suspect area on the prostate for more accuracy. I saw Dr. Zacharias on December 4, 2018 to go over the biopsy report. It was good, no cancer detected. Dr. Zacharias scheduled my (RASP) surgery for December 11, 2018. I had my surgery and am well on my way to recovery. After 4 weeks, I felt almost totally normal. Ive been warned not to lift more than 20 pounds for 6 weeks, for risk of a hernia, which I will adhere to. I had a check-up on January 11, 2019 and the Dr. and I are pleased with the results. I had an almost empty bladder and a strong stream. Im like Im 20 again. I will have my PSA checked in 6 months. I am hoping for the best. By the way, I got there early 2 times and I was done by the time I was supposed to be there. Good job!

I have been a patient of Dr. Zacharias for over 7 years and just before Thanksgiving 2022 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. The care, the explanation of options that were available to me and ultimately the procedure that was done (the surgical removal of the prostate) have all been outstanding from Dr. Zacharias and his Staff.
Pre-Op: The various treatment options that were available to me were explained in a clear and complete manner so that I understood each of them. The Dr. also explained the potential side effects of each of the options and he provided a complete explanation of what he felt was the best treatment for me. The care, professionalism and explanations have continued Post-op as well. Being diagnosed with cancer is a "Moment" in one's life and I had the good fortune to be in the capable hands of Dr. Zacharias and his staff to help me navigate these uncharted waters. Thank you, my good doctor.

This was my husbands first visit with Dr. Z.. He is a wonderful Dr. and will be performing more tests, which another urologist failed to do...we were 100% satisfied and confident he will find a solution for my husbands medical issues.

Very nice receptionists and nurse. Dr Z is very nice and has an unusually good bedside manner. He is very informative and spent a lot of time with me. He gave me a prescription, but not until after full exam and deliberation. Only one visit, but highly recommended. There are doctors who are both good and nice!

Just best doctor ever. He has the knowledge and the bedside manner.

He has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. I had bladder cancer and he yelled and berated me for over 1/2 hour the first time I saw him. I would have walked out but did not know who else to go to. He did a great job on my surgery but withheld pain medication afterwards. If you can, find someone else to do your surgery.
