I don't know what the negative reviewers experienced, but I found Dr. Schlaifer to be personal, professional, efficient, and communicative. Same for her staff people. She not only did the procedure, but also took the time to answer my questions.
I would recommend her.

Dr. Amy just removed my kidney 2 weeks ago. She has always been caring and thoughul to me, an --advocate--. I just wish I was better instructed on the whole recovery process. But, maybe I should have asked more questions. Hoping for a full recovery.

If you are in the Prescott area, I highly recommend Dr, Amy Schlaifer as the best Urologist in town! Very thorough and proactive. This lady is very good, even with having a very busy office. Hopefully she will add another day to her schedule in Prescott.

She was great because she talks with you not at you. She explains why is ordering certain tests. Some doctors just order tests with no explanation.

My husband had BPH for 8 years, UTIs and then developed bladder stones & a kidney stone of which 2 doctors spent almost 2 months trying to remove. The doctors told him his bladder would never work again on its own. We were referred to Dr. Schlaifer and she performed one, 1 hour surgery and removed all the stones and fixed the BPH problem, His dignity & life have been restored thanks to Dr. Schlaifer. We think she is a true blessing. She has also cured an ongoing problem for me which 3 doctors failed to do. Thank You, Dr. Schlaifer, the Zerbes

We want to thank DR Schlaifer for her immediate diagnosis and recommendation of a surgeon in Houston, our home. We were traveling and she took care of Laura knowing we would not stay in Phoenix for surgery. In our opinion she is great. She even called my cell, after hours, to give me the results of the CT scan, performed minutes before at AZ Heart.

STOP! As others have said this Doctor has zero empathy, compassion or concern about your condition or you as a human being. Academic Urology is a Corporate Assembly Line and there to rush you through. Dr. Schlaifer will not answer questions and when she does the answers are short, uninformative and rude. Ask a question and she will cut you off in mid sentence! She DOES NOT explain procedures and is very rough in handling your most sensitive areas. Her staff walks on eggshells and are afraid of her. The emotional stress this Doctor was horrible! There are a few people on her staff that were polite, informative and professional. I had Urolift done and bleed profusely for two days. STOP!!! Read reviews. Abrazo Urology has some much better CARING Doctors. Dr. Schlaifer should be admonished for her unprofessional behavior, lack of compassion and empathy and retrained on what it means to be a Doctor caring for people. Academic Urology the worst choice you can make. STOP!

"Maybe she was just having a bad day...BUT: She was condescending to me. She scoffed at my questions and gave me responses that made me feel stupid for asking them. Her personal skills were off-putting. On the plus side, she seemed reasonable when discussing her interpretation of my results. It's too bad there aren't more urologists in northern AZ."

I was in the waiting room for 50 minutes, and when I was finally seen by Dr Schlaifer she spent no more than 5 minutes with me, and I was a new patient. As far as her bedside manner goes, I am truly speechless. She has no empathy, is condescending, and from my point of view took very little interest in providing me with medical care. This is the first review I have written about the evaluation based on a Doctors visit. I dont doubt her level of knowledge, but I would not recommend her to family & friends.

This was my 2nd appointment w her. The 1st was just as bad but I decided to try her again, thinking everyone has a bad day. Well this visit was more concerning then the first and the very sad thing is this young lady has absolutely no clue that and simply doesnt CARE that her bedside manner and lack of empathy unacceptable. Saw her in the Prescott office, its a mad house. No privacy from other patients & everyone is handed a cup to pee in & sent to the bathroom, straight from the waiting room. My latest appointment was about an hour late, ridiculous! I purposely requested her since she is a female and this last time seems she has got a male PA on staff now. Wasnt asked when I checked in who I wanted to see, was handed over to him an hour late. The office has cleaned up since my original visit, it was a pig sty. The only reason I continue to go is because its too hard to get a referral for a new female doctor. She has no --bedside-- manner, so busy, everything is fast and furious except for being on time for scheduled appts.

I truly wasnt going to leave a review, but my experience was so bad that it has stayed in my mind months after visiting her. Dr Schlaifer was extremely condescending, abrasive, and dismissive. Instead of working with me to discover what was making me sick she would brush me off with generalized statements. When I would question her or her staff I was met with callused responses like --why are you so emotional-- and --you know there is no magic pill that just fixes everything --. She made an initial diagnosis that was correct, but stopped looking for anything after that. This led to a different diagnosis being untreated, worsening for months till I switched doctors. Please save yourself time, money and agony and see a different doctor.

Dr. Schlaifer I agree with other reviews. She seems to be a full of herself and lacks bedside manner. She was unprofessional, shes in a hurry, non compassionate and rude. I traveled a long distance to see this Dr specifically since she I wanted to see a female Urologist. I have read some other reviews and seems like I am not the only one to have similar experience. Since some of the similar reviews are much older, I can see that her attitude has not changed!!!

First the office should in no way be used as a doctor’s office. There is no privacy and because it is so open everything echos. I waited over an hour to be called back. I was first asked to give a urine sample in one of the most disgusting bathrooms I have ever been in. There were four other samples just sitting on the top of the tank. The floor was sticky and grimy. It was the last thing I expected to see at a urologist’s office especially when you are trying to get a clean catch urine sample. Once I saw Dr. Schlaifer she was rude and condescending. She would ask me a question and no matter what I said she acted like it was the dumbest thing she’d ever heard. She also told me that people with recurrent UTI’s often have cancer and in the next breath told me that she couldn’t do the procedure to check for 2 months or more. I felt belittled and unimportant to her as she took no time to really talk to or listen to me. I believe she just wants to push as many people through as she can so she can money grab. A family member works in surgery at a hospital in one of the towns she works in. Dr. Schlaifer was caught telling patients that another urologist was retiring and she was taking over their patients. That was a blatant lie and if I had known that before I went to see her I would have never gone. She is untrustworthy and had no interest in helping patients. I will not be returning.

Worst doctor ever. Falsifys exams records, spends more time on her laptop, than she does listening to patient. And will not return phone calls when you have any concerns.

I am not a “high-maintenance” patient at all. This is the first review I have written about a medical provider. I saw the mostly negative reviews about this doctor and should have heeded them. I wanted to take care of some medical issues before the next wave of Covid hysteria hits, and she was the first appointment I could get, so I thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt, as some folks write reviews because of personal grievances or out of spite, etc. Well as I said, I should have considered the advice of the reviews. Even though this provider comes up to Prescott one day a week, the earliest appointment available was down in Phoenix, so I drove down from Prescott. After a staff person took my vitals, the doctor came in with a laptop, introduced herself, and spent the rest of the very short appointment engaged with the laptop. Her attitude was condescending, and she would not listen to my concerns, continually cutting me off mid-sentence. She said the main condition I was seeing her about was not yet advanced enough for surgery, that surgery was the only way to correct it, and that the surgery might not work. She cut me off before I could discuss any of the less-invasive treatments I wanted to talk with her about, including one procedure that her company advertises on their website. For the other condition I was seeing her about, she said she was writing a prescription. No one gave me a prescription as I was leaving, and no one called one in to the pharmacy I go to, which I had entered on the intake form. I called the company 2 days later to inquire about this, and a staff member said she would look into it. No one got back to me. I followed up with an email. No reply. Am still waiting. However, their billing department is very efficient—I received the bill very quickly. I see why the reviews of others are the way they are, and my heart goes out to those folks.

This young doctor may be educated, but her bedside manner gives the impression to others that she is above her patients. She needs to take a class in empathy. Her first meeting, before a check up is that-- your symptoms may be cancer,--...dont say that to ANYONE until you do tests. I would NOT recommend her.

I was referred to Dr. Schlaifer by my PCP after being in pain daily for 15 months, not only did the doctor have a condescending attitude but she used air quotes when discussing --my pain--. Obviously she didnt believe I had pain, she didnt offer any explanation, no follow up call, no suggestions as to what was causing my pain, no test...nothing . After a 5 minute office visit I was charged a $500.00 fee for nothing. I went to Prescott Urology and I have been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, thankfully I have a caring, competent, professional physician now.

Dr. S is so busy running from room to room that she has no time to listen to her patients. Her office is crowded and she obviously does not value tact or privacy. Her attitude conveys superiority and aloofness. She is not worth the co-pay!
