Smart, skillful, a great doctor. Patients should consider themselves fortunate to have Dr. Tarantino care for them. Robert B. Nathanson, M.D.

came to my vasectomy in a filthy lab coat and tried to convince me that it was ok because the coat was clean. I told him to get scrubs on before I would let him near me. He whined a little but changed- then came back in the same gloves - I asked him to follow sterile procedures or we were done and Id report him to the insurer as well as the medical board. Staff is the usual bored and could care less doctors office attitude at all locations.

When he made a careless and easily reversible mistake, rather than fixing it, he lied, attempted to cover-up by ordering an unnecessary and risky test (that required the administration of many enemas in preparation--all of which had to be done on Christmas Day for the test scheduled on the following day)and refused to provide the standard treatment to reverse the problem he caused. He may have adequate skill and knowledge but he lacks integrity and honesty.

It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to become a urologist but much of the work they do it mind numbingly routine. When you let that routine affect your concern for your patients it becomes toxic. After getting a raging UTI from a cystoscopy four years earlier I impressed upon him that with the next one I needed aggressive antibiotics in advance. He completely ignored my request and in the end I had a month of agony with three different prescriptions. I got a new urologist Ryan Dorin in Plainville who is younger and far more responsive. Had a modern plasma TURP (beyond Tarrantino's capabilities) and both doctor and results were amazing.

When I first began seeing him he was wonderful. Took a deep interest in my case. His staff however were horrid. Rude & so nasty. I was hurt when he put me on daily antibiotic for over a year not telling me the possible consequences. I blew up like a balloon looked pregnant and he didn’t even examine me. He would just sit across the room asking me questions and typing in the computer. And there was another person in the room also documenting the visit. He told me to remain on the antibiotic and I stopped. I went to see a GI doc as I know had IBS-D and lost over 50 lbs. went back 6 months later to advise him and he said Nothing. Again he can be very friendly he had me fooled Sad. Ecay’s Rite didn’t have to be this way:(

Dr. Tarantino is a nice person but I dont think he listens carefully or took into consideration all of the record keeping and data I had collected in regard to my mother. The initial appointment was in Avon, and the second was in the new location in Farmington. We were not informed that the new location had become a --Mens Wellness-- center. After our visit, my mother regressed and we were back to where we were a month ago. Perhaps partially due to his incompetent assistant, with the unfriendly, abrupt attitude, who scanned my mother sitting up and didnt have her void prior to scanning. Obviously the result indicated a high number of retention. Anyone with the slightest knowledge knows that both of these procedures produce invalid results. I dont know if the assistant reported this to the doctor, but we were told to resume catharizing after my mother had been weaned off for 11 days. I was hoping the doctor would take a close look at my information rather than a glance. After what we thought was significant progress made, we are back to the beginning.

I wound up with an unneccecarry infection, because he did not continue antibiotics long enough after cancer surgery. He did not even think an oncolagist was needed. I have 2 words, stay away

If you're looking for a urologist keep searching. My elderly father had a catheter put in when he was having trouble. The catheter was then left in for over a month. When asked when we're going to remove it we were told the only person that does the bladder capacity test is on maternity leave.
Fast forward a few weeks and he's shaking and having trouble walking. My mother had to ask for a test and sure enough uti. The uti was confirmed via test results on a Tuesday but after numerous phone calls on Friday we were still left with 'we're sending an urgent message to the doctor'.
This is completely unacceptable and this office needs to get their act together. Perhaps they should try to treat the patients first before billing.

My husband had a scheduled appointment today with Dr. Tarantino in Avon at 4pm. When we showed up for the appointment, we were told that it had been cancelled. Apparently, the automated system called the wrong phone number and whoever answered, cancelled our appointment. Shouldnt there be some sort of verification process to cancel or confirm an appointment? Of course, they could not --fit us in-- because the doctor had an appointment at 5. We are extremely unsatisfied and will not be returning to this practice.

Dr. Tarantino's office believes the medical community's reputation for poor patient service could be worse, and they are succeeding in proving it.
