This man is a real doctor. He is kind, courteous & outgoing. I look forward to seeing him. BTW, a most excellent surgeon, too. My life was preserved and I am thankful for Dr. Rubens skill and expertise.

We are devastated Dr Rubens has left our community. He worked with me during two separate bouts of cancer and never once did I question his commitment, knowledge of concern for my well being. Dr Rubens is a kind, gentle considerate man and I recommended him to friends before he left. He will be missed.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Rubens and his staff. Bedside Manner - Dr. Rubens has a rare ability to thoroughly answer your questions and provide transparency for the patient and their family. Competence - Highly respected amongst his peers. We received a lot positive comments leading up to my surgery. Most importantly my surgery and recovery were successful. Highly recommend Dr. Rubens and his team.

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Rubens, the hospital he operated on me at, and with his staff. I have a very complicated Urologic problem, and Dr. Rubens was the only surgeon in town willing to take me as a patient and help me start to feel better. I would highly recommend him as a doctor. My only negative was dealing with two of his older partners while they were covering for Dr. Rubens. They were very short and didnt seem to understand my problem, or even care at times.

After long suffering with the unknown, I found Dr. Rubens and travelled the one hour commute to see him. He offered options to remedy my situation and educated me to help me make my own decision to best meet my needs. I am happy to say that as a result of his excellent care, I am kidney stone free today! He is thorough and kind, which I truly appreciate. His staff are very personable and kind, as well. I would choose no other urologist. He basically walks on water for me.

Dr Rubens is really good at what he does. If you have the good fortune of being his patient, your health is probably going to be safeguarded in ways you might not even presume at the moment. Glad I was able to find him, and happy to be a continuing patient

Dr. Rubens was very thorough and knowledgeable. He spent ample time to make sure that I clearly understood the situation and considered my opinion when determining the best course of action. Surgery was required and I feel 100% better as a result. I highly recommend Dr. Rubens.

I had somewhat of an emergency and was fortunate enough to have Dr. Rubins respond. My experience was perfection! very competent, great communication skills, and wanted me fully advised regarding my options. He is my urologist going forward.

Sometimes the wait is a bit long, but Dr. Rubens has done a very nice job with my husband, who is a prostate cancer patient. His referrals have been appropriate, and his bedside manner has been pleasant and patient, always willing to answer my endless questions. Hubby has seen two other urologists in town - and we find Dr. Rubens to be the one that listens the most. When evaluating post-surgical PSA results, even though our doctor said the numbers were fine, Dr. R took a closer look and recommended further treatment. Truthfully, we went to U of M for surgery before meeting Dr. R, but the followup care in Kalamazoo with Dr. Rubens has been thorough and excellent.

I was comfortable and at ease from the moment I entered Dr. Rubens office. This was greatly appreciated as I was very concerned about my diagnosis. I received great personalized care by Dr. Rubens and each member of his staff. Thanks!

I was seen at WakeMed hospital for a problem with urinating and weakness in my legs. Ive suffered a spinal injury so a problem like this is part of my life. I ended up getting a catheter inserted and had to leave it in for a week until my bladder returned to normal. During this time I was hobbling around with a large bag and tube attached to me. I returned to the Wake Urology Practice a week later to have the catheter removed. During this time and during my stay in the hospital I was seen by Dr. Rubens. His attitude towards me was borderline hostile. He has a very callous way of talking to and giving people bad news. During my time with the catheter installed I was out of work. I have worked through some very difficult times but this was undoable with any type of dignity. I let him know he might be contacted by my insurance provider about my time off work and he responded that he could do nothing for me in the way of time off. He told me he has many patients that cath everyday and work (which I dont doubt). But I was not inserting and removing a catheter every time I needed to go. I had the same large bag (which I did try to put under my clothing and could not) attached the entire time. I found his attitude and demeanor to be very offensive. Im sure there are people that have gone through this or worse situations and returned to work somehow but I doubt the list is very long. I should have been given a smaller bag that could go under my clothes or some accommodations not some callous response.

Waited two weeks to see him for testicular pain, saw me once, ran a few tests and shuffled me out of office with no diagnosis. When I called back stating I had discomfort, he refused to see me claiming, --Its not a urology issue.-- How is testicular pain not a Urology issue? Im assuming he meant that this pain is mental. This is the kind of treatment you will get after just one visit. Dr. Brandon Rubens is by far the worst Urologist I have ever encountered.
