I stumbled upon this rating website for Dr. Canfield, and I must say I was astonished to see less than a 4 star rating for the doctor. That is the rating I give, and that is what I would rate Dr. C, from the very beginning of my experience with him some 4 years ago to now. I consider him (and his staff) as the best. I would never consider any other urologist. He has always taken as much time with me as I need and has always explained everything I needed to know. Again, I cannot imagine why anyone would rate Dr. C or his staff as anything but top rated.

Excellent is the only thought that floods my mine. He listens, provides a caring approach to the diagnosis and the corrected medical procedure to resolve the illness. I have had several Urologist and on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being excellent. Mr. Canfield is definitely a 10 hands down.

I have Dad Dr. Canfield as a doctor for 10 years. He has always been positive, friendly, and his assistants have all been very good. He removed my prostate about 10 years ago with no side affects nor suffering. He knows his stuff and cares about me.

I have been seeing Dr. Canfield for about three years. My first visit was for a very painful case of prostatitis. Dr. C proscribed different medications that eventually eliminated the infection and Im now dealing with BPH and an overactive bladder. Not fun growing older, but my problem isnt Dr. Cs fault! Hes been responsive, very professional and direct. Im very happy with him and have been told by other Dr. friends that hes a fine and highly qualified Dr. I recently saw one of the PAs who was also professional, curtious and helpful. Highly recommend Dr. C and his PA.

Dr. Canfield is a first rate urologist. He is up to date and saved me from a miserable operation by using laser surgery. His Santa Maria staff is not nice. I wont go there again. His staff in San Luis is better. Great doc, not so great staff in Santa Maria. If you have any choice go to French Hospital. Sierra Vista will call you the night before surgery and want $300.00 to $500.00 up front even with good insurance. This is a good group.

What a flaky office. First they lose my urine sample which they requested. They then call & tell me to get blood test for my next appt., but when I show up, the testing facility has no record of the request. When I called and asked for information they said they would call me back. They did AFTER 3 days.

Canfield withheld a TURB procedure for 1 1/2 years while I was bleeding, in pain, hemoglobin of 4.8 before I and almost died. By the time he did the procedure my cancer spread to one kidney and both lungs. I will eventually die because of this sick man. This was intentional negligence.

Dr. canfield stalled and stalled on setting a surgery date. When he set a date it was at his own care center about 60 miles round trip from my home. I had asked to be taken care of at the hospital only 12 miles away. The soonest he could get me into this hospital is two months away, I may have cancer and dont want to wait. Besides my full coverage insurance wont be valid then. I called his office no less than 9 times with NO one returning my messages. I know of three other people who have walked out, and changed doctors because of this group of so called professionals.

Dr Canfield should be named Dr Cantfield. He is initially nice, but once you start asking him questions about the care you or a loved one are receiving, he instantly develops an attitude. He is dismissive, neglectful, and rude. If I could give him zero stars, I would

Canfield spends most of your appointment time typing. After this he will do his best to put you down and be really negative, whilst completely missing the boat on your available options. Go to Stanford where you will get kind and knowledgeable help. Avoid urology associates like the plague

If you like to wait over an hour, past your appointment time. Get treated rudely by staff and doctors. Get misdiagnosed and neglected, having to self catheterization unnecessarily for months, Canfield is your man.

If there was a way to put a zero star I would. Like I said if you have state insurance (Midicare, Medical, Cencal for California) you will be waiting an hour or more for a 6 minute counsel to tell you there's nothing wrong with you. Sure that makes since because I just like to be seen by specialist for no apparent reason. I saw comments saying that they don't understand the bad reviews on this doctor, so I tell this, you either have good insurance or or pretty looking person or your a relative of his or a friend or you got him in very very good day, congratulations I'm happy for you. I went to urgent care clinic cause I couldn't stand the pain anymore when I told my experience that I had that day, the nurse ask what place I went to? I told her. Then she ask was it Dr. Canfield? I said yes then she said we had patients with the same experience with this so called Dr. Also the doctor I was seen by at urgent care said the same. I hope that anybody that is dealing with pain get the best treatment you can find but not with Dr. Canfield.
