I've known Dr. Cohen for almost two decades. He takes just as much pride and dedication in his work as a physician helping others like he does being a husband and father. If you're truly looking for more than an in and out visit, I encourage you to make him your choice. An expert in his craft personable to everyone, as it's not everyday one can look forward to going to the Dr, you'll be glad you went to him.

great demeanor and very caring. The wait times can be long at times

Every experience I had at Doctor's Cohen office was 100% satisfying and definitely fulfilled my expectations. There is no doubt in my mind that the doctor is very knowledgeable which along with his patience and ways of explaining things made me feel as I was getting supported by a great friend. Never had to wait too much and the stuff very helpful and friendly.

Dr. Daniel Cohen has treated me for kidney stones. His bedside manner is excellent. He worked with me through a tough weekend. When I was traveling he consulted with me twice via phone to review tests and scans, even though he wasn't able to bill me for an office visit because we didn't meet face to face. He puts his patients first, ahead of his own business. Really good doctor.

I have been under Dr. Cohen’s care for the past three years. I have found that he and his P.A. Janet are excellent. They listen to what u have to say and explain how the are going to help. I hope I can find another urologist and P.A. as equally qualified in western North Carolina.

"I had surgery to remove part of my prostate 6 months ago by Dr. Daniel Cohen. This is an update to help anyone having prostate issues. I put off surgery because of so many possible side affects that can occur. Yes, you will spend a lot of time waiting in the office to see Dr. Cohen. Suck it up. He is worth the wait. I have been in the office only 6 times total. Only 2 times did I have longer ..."

Remarkably friendly and courteous doctor. If you are looking for someone who is competent, detail oriented and knowledgeable, look no further. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and, in my opinion, Dr. Cohen's advice and care literally saved my life. Can't explain some of the less than exemplary ratings appearing here but, for me? He's the best of the best on my medical team.

GREAT PHYSICIAN BUT TOO MANY PATIENTS AT ONCE. BUT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO SCHEDULE!!

"Dr. Cohen did my surgery on Friday, January 1, 2021. Yes, New Year's day. He could have waited for the weekend, but he chose to do it on the holiday. I appreciate that level of commitment and the good results from the surgery.
Any contact with the office staff has resulted in a call back that day and a solution to the issue.
I am glad that Dr. Cohen is my doctor and I would recommend him."

The overall office experience was excellent. I have even sent over 10 people from our office to Dr. Cohen for issues in this area.

Very satisfied with the overall care

Not being able to talk to live person brought me to Dr. Cohen. I was able to call in the morning and be seen by the afternoon. He gave me the immediate feedback and has a warm bedside manner.

Dr. Cohen is a great surgeon, very knowledgeable, and very caring. Although the wait time in his office can be horrible, I know it's because of the time that he spends with each and every patient. He doesn't just send his PA in to see you and then come in for 2 seconds and leave. He really cares about how you're doing. He and the other fine doctors who treated me literally saved my life. So, if I have to wait awhile in his office, that's okay. I just make sure I plan my time for my visit with him. I would unequivocally recommend him.

My whole experience with Dr. Cohen and his office staff was extremely positive. The staff was pleasant and professional. Dr. Cohen took plenty of time with me to explain the diagnosis, my options and the way ahead.

"I just had my 1 year post surgery exam. What a difference a year makes. I had the Aquablusion procedure and it is nothing less than amazing. Just like Dr. Cohen. I take no prostate medications now at all. I have a much better social life, I sleep better and feel like a human again. If you have been thinking about a procedure take a look at this one. I got a vasectomy through Dr Cohen early this year. He was excellent. The job was done quickly and barely no pain except for a strong pinch. He has got a good bed side manner and was even quick with a joke to ease the tension considering the procedure that was going to get done. I would recommended Dr. Cohen to others who desire to get a Vasectomy.

I am extremely fortunate and Blessed to have a family "connection" in the Cancer / Oncology world.
Being a former Firefighter / Medic, I am the WORST kind of patient for most Drs, as by and large, they not only don't want to take the TIME to answer in-depth medical questions, many generally dislike being questioned at ALL ! I research everything, and of course, based upon my FF/Medic past, have a broader medical knowledge than the average patient, thus (and I don't mean to be unkind or arrogant, but I find most Dr's to be a step or two above "arrogant moron level."
A couple of years ago, I had a bout with Kidney Cancer. Two Surgeons wanted to remove my entire right kidney, one wanted to cut it in half. MAJOR surgery, tough, painful recovery in EITHER case ! Dr Cohen took one look, and said, "Why these Dr's want to gut you like a fish, and carve you up is beyond me. You are a textbook case for Cancer Ablation. You'll check into Fla Hosp WP, we will ablate that tumor, remove it, and you will be home the same day." True to his word, I was indeed home by the afternoon, in NO pain, no chemo, radiation, NOTHING, just went back to living my life, with follow up imaging and exams every six months for five years, and so far, two years later, I am completely free of kidney cancer.
Thanks to Dr Cohen's careful and thorough approach to my FOLLOW UP care, and in response to some BPH symptoms (BPH is extremely common in"fifty plus" aged men) a mass was discovered in my Prostate. No metastasis, thank God, and I am now scheduled for biopsy in the hospital this week. The difference is that the TYPE of biopsy being done is not the typical "poke and hope" where they just take samples from all over your Prostate. As Dr Cohen is a "cutting edge Cut-Man," he is doing a highly specialized, highly targeted procedure called an MRI Fusion Guided Biopsy, which is an extremely precise form of biopsy / pathological diagnostic procedure (that amazingly enough) most hospitals haven't even HEARD of, let alone DO.
Dr Cohen then let me know exactly what to expect with regard to the procedure, as well as the "what if's" and what next steps, and high level treatment plan depending on the results of the biopsy.
Long story short, "Dr Dan," as I affectionately call him, is not just (as this review is entitled - the VERY BEST of the best - literally !), but possesses a bedside manner that I have NEVER seen in a Specialist / Surgeon - cutters are generally arrogant, "I know better than you so shut up and listen" kind of guys. Dr Dan is a warm, caring human being, that is clearly passionate about what he does, and is at all times, an "advocate's advocate" with regard to the care and treatment of his patients. If all Urologists / Urological Oncologists were forced to measure up to HIS standards, I fear most wouldn't make the cut, but the ones that did would change the face of the practice of that Medical Specialty.
If you are looking for a good Urologist, ESPECIALLY if you think that cancer is or might be involved in the picture, and you can get to Orlando, don't even THINK about looking any further. I would put my life in his hands without a second thought. They just don't come any better !
I wish you good luck, and God's Blessing !

best doctor I have ever had, period.

Dr Cohen saved my life by detecting my prostate cancer early. I see him every six months. Great guy who really cares and spends time with you.

Dr.Cohen is awesome! Thank you so much.
March 14 , 2009
Dr. Cohen is a superb physician. I have seen comments about long wait times in his office, but that is because when you see him he spends more time with you than any doctor I have ever had. He gave me his cell # in the first visit and his level of service has been outstanding.

Fantastic results from Aquablusion procedure. A real life changer. Can not express adequately how much this has improved my life. Should have done it 5 years ago.

DR.COHEN'S TREATMEMT PLAN GAVE ME MY LIFE BACK. I TRAVEL ABOUT 225 MILES TO SEE HIM. IT'S WORTH THE TRIP.
September 16 , 2008
I live 2 hours away from Dr. Cohen's office and he is well worth the trip. I was referred to him after having a urological issue after surgery 2 years ago. I've been going to him ever since.

Doctor was very knowledgeable and office staff was excellent! The wait time is horrible.
March 23 , 2012
I think he a great Doctor!
June 18 , 2018
Was there 2 hours for a follow up, then again the place was full great otherwise
January 10 , 2019
After my multiple visits I can not recomend this Dr. Waiting time is unreasonable and no follow up care at all.
March 02 , 2012
Last time I was there, I waited an hour in the lobby, then gave some urine, then waited 45 minutes in a waiting room for him to come talk to me for 5 minutes. Still have no clue what the problem is inside me. Going to see another doctor.
April 24 , 2012
This guy does not know what it means to be on time and schedule people with a reasonable wait time. If you do not have hours to wait, then this is not your doctor.
June 10 , 2014
Long wait time and Dr. seems to be always in the hurry.
March 05 , 2012
My husband had an appointment for a biopsy at noon. We arrived 15 minutes early and found out at 12:15 he went to lunch. Ok, whatever. 3:15 his procedure was finally started. When the procedure was over never heard a word from Dr Cohen or one of his Nurses how the procedure went and if my husband was ok. Finally at 5:30 one of the receptionist checked to see what the status was of my husband. Never heard a word from anybody in the office. Poor scheduling, maybe. Not a good thing to office procedures with office regular office hours. Communication goes a Long way. Do if you want to see a good doctor, Dr Cohen is really good but be prepared to wait 3 hours or longer for your appointment.

I find it interesting that another women reviewed that Dr. Cohen is creepy, because he made me uncomfortable too. He made inappropriate comments about my body while examining me and even the nurse had to tell him it was inappropriate. It would be a nice compliment, if it wasn't coming from a doctor while touching my bare abdomen. Poor bedside manner. Made me nervous to have surgery performed my him through my ureter. After surgery, it was difficult getting an appointment to remove the stint and I had to have it in a week or two longer than expected because of it. It was very painful. He also did not wait a few seconds for the numbing cream to work before pulling it out of me and acted as though it was an inconvenience to him. That was painful as well. He was always rushed and does not seem to like to take the time to talk with his patients. I give him a 2 star rating because my surgery was successful and I'm sure he is a good doctor, however there are many other good doctors out there and I would recommend going elsewhere.

Zero stars. Everything about this doctor and this practice is subpar. Dr. Cohen only cares about getting your money for the big procedures and not the follow up care. He does not have appreciation for your time and was two hours late (which the staff at the surgery center stated he was always late) for our surgery. After having a kidney stone removed, it was impossible to get in touch with the office for follow up medications and follow up appointment for removal of a stent. The day of the surgery the doctor lied to us stating that the stent would be removed in one week. After days of trying to get in touch with the office, someone finally answered and said that he always tells his patients what they want to hear, and makes the staff tell the patient what he really wants to do. In our case it was to remove the stent two weeks after the surgery. The doctor prescribed medication that was contraindicated to other medications I take. Thank goodness the pharmacy noticed. The stent was placed incorrectly, in which is was poking the kidney causing incredible pain (worse than the stone itself). We actually had to find another Urologist that would remove the stent and was able to see us the next day. Even two months later, Dr. Cohen has never followed up with us...as far as he knows the stent has never been removed. If you are looking for a great Urologist, try Dr. Rakesh Patel. He is amazing!

Go somewhere else and too many patient at once
April 20 , 2012
The dr is amazing but his staff is the worst I have ever came in contact with.
And today was the straw that broke the camels back.
I waited in the waiting room for over an hour and I went to ask when I was going to be call and I was told we need to reschedule you because my dr will not be in today.
I have been a patient of dr. Cohen for over 7 years and the staff has gotten worst as the years gone by it's sad that such an amazing dr had a staff that does not care at all about his patients if it were an isolate issue I would not complain but weather I'm on the phone or coming in for my appointment it is complete horror.
I'm sad that I have to leave my doctor but I can't take it anymore

I guess as a woman I had a very different experience with this doctor. He and made me uncomfortable was creepy. Also, the patient bed cotton dressing sheet was not changed from last patient and it was torn and dirty- YUCK!! There are many other doctors to choose from in Central FL- stay away from this one!!

"Short version: I have PTSD from medical abuse. I did my best to make it clear to this place, and the PTSD was induced by another urologist.

Appt at 10:30…now 1215 and still no doctor!!!
November 01 , 2021
Took my 92 year old father to Dr. Cohen's office for a 2:40 appt.. After waiting for an hour and a half inquired about delay.Nurse checked and stated we were next . My father decided to leave at 4:50 .No one had checked in with us by that time.Unacceptable. If an office is that busy, patient should be informed and given an option to reschedule or choose to wait for hours.
May 02 , 2019
1) the wait time was very unreasonable.
2) Ended up having the bladder-hammock type surgery and was told it was essential that I come back for a follow-up visit after the surgery.
(3) Showed up for the follow up visit and the waiting room was so crowded they told me if I felt fine to disregard the follow up visit. So I left. Still have the same problems I had before the surgery.

Dr Cohen was the first urologist I saw when I started having frequent urination and bladder pain. Everyone in this office was so miserable, unsupportive and uncourteous. He made me feel like no one cared. He also ran multiple tests and found nothing. I felt like an experimental eat instead of a human. So I completely turned away from urology. Then 6 months later I tried a new urologist and they found a complex cyst on my ovary and a bad kidney. The level of trust and understanding is completely different. Wish I would have never seen Dr Cohen. I don't recommend.

He was assigned to me when I was a patient at Florida Hospital. His bedside manner was horrible. Upon his first visit he was asking a number of routine questions, one of which was how many times I was pregnant and how many live births did I have. Being a woman this was not an uncommon question. I have one child but when he realized I was single he asked, "how are you single but you have a child?" Divorce. Death. Number one, that has no bearing on my medical issue. Number two, the question and his attitude about it was extremely unprofessional.
During my stay at the hospital, he did not make himself available at all. Finally I told him that if he wasn't going to provide the care that I needed, I would leave and go somewhere else. He then told me, "Go ahead and try, no one will see you with no insurance. The only reason I did is because I had to because I was on duty when you came in."
What disappointing and disgusting behavior from someone who took an oath to care for the ill.

Short version: I have PTSD from medical abuse. I did my best to make it clear to this place, and the PTSD was induced by another urologist.
If I see a doctor, I have to have a therapy session after. There’s no getting around it. I called and asked about times for appointments, and made clear that I had to be at therapy at 4, so it was very important to know how long I *might* be there. I was told 50 minutes max by the guy on the phone.
Either no one informed the doctors, or they just like to yell “RELAX. WHY WONT YOU RELAX” at people with PTSD (this was the first urology appointment since the abuse).
This took 2 and a half hours, I missed therapy (but got charged since I wasn’t given ample time to cancel), so I asked for my co-pay back since they made me sicker, didn’t listen AND furthered the PTSD. The office manager, Pam, told me that I should consider not having two appointments in one day, ignoring that I have to or I can’t get to a doctor at all. PTSD was made worse, and they not only don’t think it’s a big deal, but they are merely protecting the staff member who induced a massive overwhelming trauma response, and while knowing full well that they definitely screwed up, they made sure I was juuuuuust late enough to not get to therapy, so I paid an extra 75 bucks for services NOT rendered. I’m not even going to get into the HIPAA violation that the person who answered the phone pulled by mentioning out loud WHERE HE KNOWS ME FROM to the whole office.
Go at your own peril, and Dr. Cohen *might* be great for all I know (I saw a nurse practitioner at his practice, but these reviews seem to all strike similar chords), but either way, you have to deal with a staff that couldn’t care less about you. I’d wonder how they sleep at night, but I’m fairly sure that you don’t need much rest without a heart.
The lady named Gina in the office is very kind and understanding. That’s the whopping one nice thing I can say about this practice.
If you want to go to the doctor to get sicker, Cohen Urology is the place for you!

Since he was recommended did see him. He stated he would call & conference w another dr. regarding my condition, twice but no follow thru. Had a procedure, looked down n used caths were in trash. Office is crammed w people n staff and often 4 hr wait.Ridiculous.

Waited 3 hours to see the dr. For 2 minutes and I still don't know what's wrong with me. He has Too many patients, very unorganized office!!!
August 03 , 2015
I had a 10:30 appt, arrived on time, filed documents. I was taken to waiting room, I waited until 12:10 to request time frame to be seen. The nurse that went to verified came back, walked by me and did not say a word. I proceeded to the receptionist and was unable to say why the delay. I left the office without being seen. The treatment that i received from staff was unprofessional and lack of consideration.

The first time I saw Dr. Cohen. It was two hours before I was seen.
The second visit was scheduled and told by there at 10:30 for a procedure with anesthesia so no food or water from midnight before.. Procedure didn’t occur until 4p.m. So was in his office for six hours and no food or water for almost 24 hours.
He showed up 2 hours late for surgery After surgery, I was in pain, so I was given some IV Fentanyl. When I was discharged, I was given two prescriptions’: an antibiotic and something for bladder spasm. However, there was NOTHING written for pain.
My surgery follow up was scheduled two days later I waited 90 minutes before being taken to a room and another hour in the back to talk to the P.A. for 3 minutes.
There is no respect for the patient. The office has no consideration for the patient’s time, having them fast including lack of water for nearly 24 hours is inexcusable or a doctor not give the patient anything for pain after surgery is almost malpractice.
July 30 , 2022
First visit I waited over 4 hours before being taken to exam room. Sat there for 45 min before the PA came in. Dr Cohen wasn't even in the office. Had surgery the next day with him. A week later had a second surgery and he showed up over 2 and half hours past me surgery time. Not even an apology for running late. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not recommend him to anyone. Already been in the office an hour and half past my appointment today and have not been taken to exam room. It seems he is more concerned with the money he will make because he over schedules.
July 28 , 2016
I have read other reviews and the wait time is the least of the problems with this doctor. Be careful. He recommends unnecessary surgeries. I went to a urologist after and he said surgery would have made my condition worse not better. What is this "Convenience charge of 300.00 for an in office procedure that he doesn't go through insurance with. There is a reason. Blue Cross Blue Shield said he is not legally permitted to administer general anesthesia in the office only in a certified facility. Then he charges a co pay also which is incorrect also according to insurance. Lets talk about "Convenience". I had a cystoscopy done. I was given a square piece of gauze and told to put it over my private parts. When I asked for a gown they said they only had this. I think I understand why patients put up with the waiting time, which I was told is because they triple book for each time slot. Though he is very nice he spends most of his time telling patients why surgery will make them feel so much better. A highly recommended urologist I was referred to after said the entire Urology community of doctors know he is a surgery fanatic and in his words"is not a nice person". Be careful and get a second op[inion from any urologist, mention Dr. Cohens name and see what they say. He is currently being investigated by my insurance company.
