A skillful surgeon who also is the best medical communicator I have ever met. I thought I --knew it all-- from researching prostate cancer on the Web, but after listening to Dr. Lopez explanation, I gained a full understanding of the nature of the disease and the risks I faced. He then performed a biopsy with 16 needle cores, of which only one was malignant (in other words, he found the needle in the haystack. Dr. Lopez followed up with a full description of the treatment options I had, clearly explaining the upside and downside of each option. He was careful to allow me to make the decision by presenting an objective evaluation of each option. I am certain that Dr. Lopez extended my life.
