During the office visit, I choose not to have the TURP surgery recommended by another urologist because of the high probability of sexual dysfunction. I considered the prostatic urethral lift as an alternative for my enlarged prostate which was causing me to get up 4-5 times at night to empty my bladder resulting in a fitful sleep. According to Bandi, he had performed over 300 prostatic urethral lift surgeries with a 97% success rate with minimal risk for erection dysfunction. Based on this information, I went ahead with the surgery. The result: I have extreme difficulty getting an erection and ejaculating. Furthermore, I have resumed getting up at night multiple times to urinate. At the post-op visit, Bandi avoided discussion of his “high success rate” and stated the TURP procedure was “the gold standard.” He also claimed that the erectile dysfunction was “coincidental!” Worse, his attitude changed from the semblance of a caring doctor at the original visit to defiant arrogance.
