Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer. Dr. Saltzman was compassionate, patient, caring, and extremely knowledgable. Dad was extremely happy under the care of Dr. Saltzman. I think he is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever encountered.

Dr. Brian Saltzman is a caring , skilled, and knowledgeable physician. Hes cared for me for many years and I recommend him highly. Urological issues are often difficult to talk about. He has just the right combination of personal and professional skills for his field of practice.

Dr. Saltzman is one of the finest physicians Ive ever seen. He practices evidence-based medicine, and is able to lay out treatment options in a way that is empowering. Hes compassionate and I trust his judgement.

Both Dr. Brian Saltzman and his brother Dr. Ned Salztman, are caring and informed doctors.

Dr. Saltzman is nice but you can tell a little OCD. While he is nice he conversation is always kept to a minimum. My appts never lasted more than a few minutes. He does seem very knowledgable but you have to work at getting information out of him (going back to the piece on conversation) because he does not offer answers so readily in all cases. The one issue that I really had with his office was this; I had to go in for surgery and before that could take place I needed to sign paperwork. To sign the papers I had to make an appt and pay another copay just to sign my name. I thought that was absurd and uncalled for.

I found Dr. Saltzman most unethical and uncaring. He recommended a Lithotripsy procedure for my kidney stone. This he performed at a facility in Waltham not at Newton Wellesley Hospital, where his office is located. He never showed up after the procedure to tell me how it had gone. A few days later I ended up in Newton Wellesley emergency because the stone he had shattered had broken into two pieces and had gotten stuck. After spending the night, they called his office in the morning to see what he would recommend. He did not even bother to come downstairs from his office for 5 minutes to see me. He gave a message to the staff: -- Its his decision; if he wants the stone out I can do it--. Needless to say I discharged myself, went to Mass General, saw Dr. Dianne Sacco and received first class treatment. I told my GP never to refer anyone to Dr. Saltzman. As an aside, I also now know why Newton Wellesley has the reputation around Newton for a place you go to with minor emergencies but not for elective procedures!

I really dont want to complain about Dr Saltzman himself, or his medical staff. Its the office staff that a serious problem, especially regarding billing.

"I have never written a review but today's appointment with Dr Brian Saltzman motivates me. He is the most dismissive, condescending, aloof doctor I have ever met. I have never written a review but today's appointment with Dr Brian Saltzman motivates me. He is the most dismissive, condescending, aloof doctor I have ever met. He did not even do the exam thoroughly. He didn't tap on the area where I stated I have pain, only on the sides of my body, yet he later stated that my kidneys are in the exact area I have pain. He had already decided that I didn't have a UTI and stated that he didn't see one in the urine sample I had given that day, but I had not given a urine sample yet so it was impossible for him to see any results. He talked in sing-songy way, placating me and not taking me seriously from the start. Then he sarcastically stated that he would be delighted to have me go for an ultrasound. I can't even describe how weird his affect was, so detached and condescending and disingenuous. Very frustrating to try to interact with a doctor who isn't really there.

I have always respected Dr. Saltzman and received excellent service in the past, but recently I called his office on a Friday to request emergency assistance, I was told to go to the lab for a test and the doctor would call when results were received. The day passed and I never received any call, although I was told by the answering service at the end of the day that the results had been submitted to the office and the doctor. I had to go to another hospital in the middle of the night for emergency care as I was in extreme pain. Five days passed (including Saturday and Sunday) and I still never heard from the doctor or his staff. When I called five days later (the following Tuesday) to express my concerns the Doctors Patient Manager first tried to make light of my situation,by trying to make jokes, then she said the doctor had been out for Friday and Monday, and I should not have expected any sooner response, then, when I became frustrated, she hung up on me. If the doctor was not going to be available I should have been told this immediately so I could pursue other options five days earlier. I also find it pretty irresponsible for anyone not to call me with the test results, which were positive, to initiate care, for five days. What situation could I have found myself in if I had not gone to the emergency room on my own?
